You are all sounding so good, getting ready for the spring recital this month!  I have more information about the spring recital as well as some news regarding the way my studio is changing.

First, the spring recital will be Friday, May 20th at 6:30pm.  It will be at Our Saviours Lutheran Church (r2500 East 3900 South). We will be in the sanctuary so please feel free to invite family and friends! Everyone is preparing a solo and our group pieces are: May Song, Camptown Races, Cripple Creek, and Devil’s Dream.  The spring recital rehearsal will be Saturday, May 14th from 10am-noon at Summerhays.  We will be rehearsing our group fiddling pieces as well as rehearsing solos with the pianist. I will be assigning students to either the 10-11:30am group or 10:45-12 group so please let me know soon if you need a certain group.  Also, for my more advanced students, those not able to attend the rehearsal, and those wishing for an extra rehearsal , our pianist (Melissa Combe) is available and will meet with you at her home by Hogle Zoo.  The Twinkle dress rehearsal is Friday, May 13 from 3-4pm at Our Saviours Lutheran Church.  Dress for the recital is spring-colored “Sunday” clothes.  I will be asking each person to bring something to share for our reception afterwards.  If you have any questions about the recital please contact me.

I have given a great deal of thought to our violin/viola studio.  You are all such wonderful students and I love the enthusiasm you come with every week.  Since we are now a group of 30+ I am making things more structured.  I will be handing out details to the new policy and schedule.  I am really excited about begin having regular group lessons and other fun activities as well as private lessons.  Please know that I am making this change to benefit my students, make things fair for everyone, and to be able to give each student my best.  We will have a studio website, more opportunities to participate in local events, and an online calendar.  This studio is designed to take care of several aspects of your child’s musical education (private lessons, group lessons, theory days, performances, competitions, field trips and more). Thank you for understanding. I will hand out the new studio policies soon.  If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.

Happy Practicing!
