My Biography

The energy and passion of Kristiana Henderson’s music-making has led to orchestra positions and solo performances on a national level.  She is currently Associate Principal Second Violin of the Ballet West Orchestra, has played full-time with the Utah Symphony, as a finalist with the New World Symphony in Miami and has been assistant concertmaster in the South Dakota Symphony. As a winner of concerto competitions she has performed Bruch’s First Violin Concerto and the Sibelius Concerto with orchestra accompaniment. She was also a guest solo recitalist for the Grand Teton Music School in Wyoming. She also plays frequently in Salt Lake valley recording studios for musicals such as Camelot and Sweeny Todd, movie recordings for LDS Motion Pictures Studio and LA East, and works on other CD projects like Kurt Bestor and Jenny Oaks Baker. She holds a Masters of Music degree in violin performance from Rice University and a Bachelors of Music degree with a major in violin performance and minor in psychology from the University of Utah.  

Kristiana enjoys exploring the versatility of music through teaching.  She has maintained a private studio for the past fifteen years.  Kristiana loves teaching students of all ages and levels and enjoys seeing each individual student develop their own skill and musical personality. She enjoys life as a professional performing musician and encourages her students to achieve their maximum potential regardless of how far they decide to ultimately take their musical talent. She is a member of the Suzuki Association of Utah and the Suzuki Association of the Americas and director of Flying Fiddlesticks.

Music has always been in Kristiana’s life.  She began studying violin at the age of 4 with Mrs. Moench and won second place in the elementary division of the Utah State Fair Competition.  She has spent her summers studying at National Orchestral Institute, Music in the Mountains, Intermountain Suzuki String Institute and Marrowstone Music Festival.  Her main teachers are Sergiu Luca, Gerald Elias, Geof Applegate, and Deborah Moench.  She’s had the privilege to work with other musicians like Gil Shaham, Anne Akiko Meyers, Elizabeth Atkins, Paul Roby, Angela Fuller and Alexandra Adkins. She lives with her dog, Jada, loves being near her family and the beautiful outdoors of Utah, and travelling the world.
